Being safe from predators involves awareness and having a plan. The violent criminal has a plan; he picks you because he perceives you do not. Being safe means avoiding situations where you are not prepared to handle any eventual outcome. Not paranoid, just realistic. Crime can happen to anyone in any neighborhood, and it is NEVER expected.
